Ancient stone circles feature in Margaret Chandra’s images of Stonehenge, Lewis, the Orkneys and the Faroe Islands – as well as traditional houses and scenery. A visual feast for island lovers!
Come and compare photographs of Stonehenge with the Ring of Brodgar, the Stones of Stenness in the Orkneys and the Standing Stones of Callanish on the Hebridean island of Lewis. All are part of the large number of mysterious stone circles found especially in Great Britain and dating back to 2000 to 3000 BC.
Other “island” features include the traditional old “black houses” and quaint cottages on Lewis and the amazing Skara Brae site in the Orkneys – a sharp contrast to the Faroes homes with their roofs of living green grass as natural insulation. And the magnificent contrasts in the scenery of the outer Faroes challenge the misty calmer waters of the Scottish islands.
Margaret also has a range of her cards and her glass jewellery and items on display for sale.
This special photographic exhibition and display of items at Gallery 40 on 9 Piper St, Kyneton, is part of the 2016 Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival.
