Wonders of Turkey

31 August, 2015 By Margaret 4 Comments

P1070142This exhibition of Margaret Chandra’s photographs presents a ‘’flying carpet” view of some of the ancient sights and modern buildings in Turkey. The city Istanbul straddles East and West across the Bosphorus with its mosques and cathedrals, palaces and old tombs. Ephesus is the best preserved Roman city on the Mediterranean and Pamukkale has its glistening white travertines of rock.

Further East lies Gaziantep, with a modern museum housing amazing Roman mosaics rescued from Belkis-Zeugma before the Biricek Dam was built across the Euphrates River. Harran has its beehive structures and finally the ancient sites of Gobekli Tepe were built, in hunter-gatherer times, and buried over 6,000 years before Stonehenge.

Margaret also has some of her own treasures of glassware and glass pendants for sale.

Here is the major Exhibition on Turkey which covers quite a lot of what Margaret’s visit to that country meant to her! So far people has really enjoyed the photos. You can still have a coffee at Ruby’s Cafe too and see Cappadocian photos hanging there.

Turkish friends called in at the weekend and were very intrigued at where we had travelled to and how we viewed their amazing country!
